Beginnings are in the fabric of our souls.

Struggling to come to terms with the death of her son in a drowning accident, fifty-year-old Caitriona decides to enroll in evening class in Practical Philosophy, hoping it will provide the perfect distraction to her grief.

There, she meets two other women, Alva and Aedmar, whose lives have been equally impacted by tragedy.

At thirty-eight, Alva has only recently escaped from an abusive relationship, and is desperate to have a baby of her own, knowing her biological clock is ticking. Meanwhile, soon to be seventy-year-old Aedmar is struggling to balance the needs of her husband, who has Alzheimer's, and her foster daughter’s determination to find her birth family.

As the three women get to know one another, their lives become increasingly interconnected, and they come to realise that no matter what life throws at them, the enduring power of female friendship will see them through.

The Live with Gusto Fund

The Live with Gusto Fund is Mary's debut novel which was published in 2024. The book was successfully launched at a large gathering at Naas Library and Cultural Centre in September 2024.

Ron O'Connell is a 32 year old single mother who hasn't had it easy in life. She relocated from Dublin to Leitrim to escape potential gangland influences over her only child Brendan. Good fortune favours her in terms of an amazing inheritance. Now she can afford to send Brendan on his travels around the world, and he can live with gusto.

A native of Limerick, Mary Moloney has lived many years in Naas, Co. Kildare. She is a former teacher who now practices as a naturopath and herbalist at Naas Naturopathy Clinic. Mary's first novel 'The Live with Gusto Fund ' was published in 2024. She is excited to have her second book 'The Philosophy Friends' published by Cranthorpe Millner which is due to be released in April 2026.
